2006 Catfish Convention?
I'm curious about the public's appetite for another catfish convention in the United States. Let me say by way of disclaimers that the Potomac Valley Aquarium Society has not decided to host another, or even discussed it yet, but I'm curious anyway. But, if my club or another is thinking about hosting another one, it would be useful to have some starter info before discussing the idea.

No problem, I have two. But I fear my kilt will look more like a mini skirt on you. Not an appetising sight. You're welcome, but it might also be a bit chilly for someone acclimatised to more southerly climes.Shane wrote:I'll come if Jools will let me wear his kilt.

I voted "if money and timing is right".
However, living in England, getting to a convention for a weekend in the US (no matter exactly where), is always going to be a bit of a stretch of the available budget of both time and money. So although it's a "positive vote", don't count it as "a likely candidate".
I'd like to go to the one here in England (November time??), but that's unlikely too due to time/money constraints...

After attending the inaugural catfish convention and thoroughly enjoying every aspect of the weekend, I have to congratulate Andrew and the PVAS members on setting an excellent standard by which all future catfish conventions (and there will be future conventions!) will be measured. That said I think that what made the convention enjoyable was the heart displayed by all who were there. From their arrival on, you could tell that people were there to learn, share experience, greet old friends and make new, and contribute in whatever modest way they could. This attitude was displayed by everyone from the most prestigious speakers whom one could not detect an iota of ego, to the humblest hobbyist willing to make whatever contribution they could towards the tremendous success that was. Andrew, from this post you can tell what way I voted in your poll, but I do have one question. Would you be insulted if a different location were suggested for 2006? I was so impressed with the weekend that I'm willing to try to see about a committment from a very northern club within the next few months for a 2006 convention. Thanks again, Paul
