Post by chrisinha »

hello!

my name is chris! im new to this forum and to catfish world. however, im an animal lover. i have 3 dogs, 1 cat, 1 yellow bellied slider turtle, 1 pleco, 2 baby guppies, 1 albino cory, and a water snail. i'd like to apologise in advance for any english mistake, but im not an english native speaker. im brazilian and have been living in the US since 2001. im 34 yrs old, and i'm back to school where im planning to be either a vet tech or a veterinarian.

i've posted a thread about my corys having lost his tail's fin :( but i've got no answers yet. im looking forward to meeting all of you!

:D :D Welcome Chris. In my experience corys will lose barbels and possibly fins and tails whenever I used gravel. Always lost barbels!!! Until I kept them without gravel. I do noy believe it was the gravel, but the cleaner water I now have without gravel. And of course water changes. :D :D :D :D :D :D

thanks for the welcome!

i dont have gravel on the bottom of my tank because of my turtle. it would only accumulate dirt, but i do have some river rocks and a couple of lavae rocks that i used to build my turtle's basking area. the cory is always underneath them, i guess to hide from the turtle who tried to eat him! dont worry! im working on his new tank right now! anyways, i dont know if he got stuck in one of the rocks and lost his fin or if maria, the turtle, nibbled his fin off!

i have some questions...

i finished building the new set up for the cory and the guppies, and am wondering about the temperature. the turtle tank temp is set up to 76F, so thats where they were. do i keep this temp in the new 10 gallon tank or should i raise it? can i moved them in the new tank as soon as it reaches the right temp? i've treated the water w/ conditioner.
right now they are in this small glass bowl with water that i took out of the turtle's tank.

Hello and welcome to Planet Catfish.

76 degrees is fine for the new tank. If you have treated the water and the temperature is at 76 degrees you can put the Cory and the guppies in the tank. Don't add any new fish for at least 6 weeks. Best of luck.

can i move the pleco in too? or should i wait? im really thinking about leaving my turtle by herself before she decides to eat all the fish!

oh, as i said before i've already taken the cory and one guppie (couldnt reach the other one yet!) out of the old tank, but the cory is freaking out! i guess he's stressed out! what should i do?
