Sid, what made you think these were Zambian variety without knowing their collecting location?
Was it the color, they seem to be more white than mine are,or something else
It's called
the eye of the Master
Nah, I'm just mental.
honestly; it shows in a few ways:
-short. they're short, Burundi's are bigger and have a more slender profile. It's a more elongated fish.
-those tend to be lighter as well; not white but more ivory than golden.
your's are true multipunctatus btw; the subspecies/variety known as "Goldeneye" has more spots, less black in the fins, smaller eyes and a lighter background color.
and finally; right about now 90% of all Tanganyikan imports are from Zambia.
Tanzania is rare due to excess burocracy, Congo is rare due to war and Burundi has been declining in a decade or two due to ethnic cleansing and other miseries.
