breeding activity?

i just noticed 2 smaller trilineatus, chasing a bigger one.. it looks like a female..
is this breeding activity?

shoould i put in a spawning map?
haven't noticed it again..
should i remove the eggs if there's any??

some cories eat eggs while opthers don't right?
i have 7 trilineatus, 8 pandas and 8 albinos in the same tank..
what should i do?

really excited!!

btw will a raibar be a good idea for a cory tank?

saw them chasing 1 female again... but haven't seen any eggs!!

I am not an expert but anytime I try to do something when the fish are getting ready to breed it seems like I screw it up. They get scared and loose interest or something. Plus I have never had any of my fish seem to comfortable with anything after its first added. They need to get used to the item first. If they are actually going to breed just go with the flow. You can always remove the eggs or the parents later.

I would wait till tomorrow evening and if they haven't done anything then do a water change. For some reason it seems like most of my cories spawn in the morning for some reason.

That looks like the typical T-spawning position. It wouldn't surprise me if they already spawned. Are there other fish in the tank that would eat the eggs or are they by themselves? Good luck with them! They must be happy.

That is definately typical cory spawning attitude. There will be eggs somewhere. Cheack any spot in the tank where there is a little extra water movement. My triliniatus tend to places their eggs in the lower half of the tank they are in and often in fine plants, but often near a filter outlet or near an airstone stream.

I'd been meaning to ask this and see if anyone had any opinions. This seems like a good place being we have a picture of this "T" behavour. When I first started to learn more about cories someone at my club had said that the female ingests the male sperm and it passes thru her for fertilization. Of course this seemed quite ludicris. However one night I observed my Sterbai doing what could suggest such a thing. A male stood in place on the bottom while a female turned on its side and mouthed his vent area while spasming. Then she relased her hold, sat upright and then faded onto her other side. She then spasmed again and I could clearly see her gills rapidly vibrating. She then sprung off the bottom, ran up the side with the male in pursuit and splashed a few eggs on the glass.
Now of course the sperm didn't pass through her digestive track, but based on that one observation it seems possible that she extracted sperm orally and using her gills somehow got the sperm to where they needed to be. To support that hipshot hypothesis I have also observed the moment of egg deposit a bunch of times and the male[s] is always in vigorous attendance but doesn't appear to fertilize the eggs upon placement. I spoke to Corybreed about this while he was at the convention and then thereafter at our club. He said the consensus at the convention was that this oral thing was not how the eggs were fertilized. But it still puzzles me and Iam wondering if there is any real evidence out there to clear this up.

would it be better if i move my cories into a 15 gallon tank? and put some spawning mops and use only a sponge filter? i'll also be feeding them frozen bloodworms..
will this be better than in their cory comm tank?

You can bet your little cotton sox that the algae eater will gobble those eggs virtually as soon as they are laid

i'm giving away my algae eater..
haven't found any eggs. will also be transferring my trilineatus to their 75 gallon or 35 gallon tanj

I've had fish, like Cherry Barbs, go through a "dry run" on their first breeding attempts. I'm wondering if it's possible with this type of Cory?

Nice pic of the "T-Position". Congrats on your breeding endeavors. The behavior must look insane if you've never seen it before!
