hello, i'm a new member of this forum.
My name is Ron i'm from Israel and i have a plants fish tank i'm allso a member of freshreef forum(http://www.freshreef.com) it is in hebrow so you want ander stand it but there are a lot of serios people from israel that can match tkashi with no problem

well give me advices about what catfish can i put in my fish tank here are the sizes of it:lengh-60s,deepnes-21s,hight-37.5. it is panorm and about 60 liter what can i put there that wont grow a lot wont eat plants be beutiful and most of all will eat אצות seaweep.
by the way my fish tanke is gooing to be a biotop of sauth american fish(about 20 kardinals 3 apistogrmot and a lot of clining fish tHAT it seaweep(otozinklos and SEA but only one beacaus it is not a part of the biotop.
i dont have ani more power to write in english and please corect my mistakes i am only 13.

and welcome to planet catfish..

how about corydoras catfish, there are loads to choose from
and they dont grow all that large but they dont really eat seaweed(?)although saying that a few years ago a guy that i knew claimed his corries liked it.. i personally have never tried feeding it to my corries..

ok so what about corydoras panda?
are you shure there is no catfish that will it seaweed and wont grow? a diler ones talld me that he have a some cind of placo(L family)

that it seaweed and not growingm is it posible?

Ron, I think you're asking for something that will eat algae (the green stuff that grows on rocks and glass) but not plants.

There are plenty of catfish that matches this criteria. The most popular ones would be Pleco's (Loricariids), but you have to be careful on this one, because many types of pleco grow large, and many that doesn't grow large are not very good algae eaters. There are a few that match your criteria, however: Bristlenose Pleco (Ancistrus sp.) and the Otocinclus sp. (Oto's), all of which tend to be relatively small (maybe up to 10 cm). Both of these are very good algae eaters, and will not eat your plants.

There are others that would also work, but those are the first ones that come to my mind, and the ones that are easiest to find in the shops here in England. I don't know much about the aquarium trade in Israel, so I don't know what's easy and hard to get there, but my best guess would be that those I've mentioned shouldn't be too difficult to get. [I have been to Israel, but only for about 2 days, and I was too busy at the trade-show that I was there for to actually see much of the country. Wouldn't mind going there again].

Sorry, I wasn't able to find the picture in your linked page. Probably because I'm not good enough at pattern recognition to find the right click-point...

Otocinclus are shorter lived than the bristlenoses, so the BN might be a better choice if you're looking for something that will live several years. Still, if there's nothing wrong with the water, the Oto's should live for a couple of years or so (more if the water is cooler, less if you have quite warm water. Warm in this case would be more than 24'C).
