imitate the rainy seazon!
S njassae is a "regular" syno, not a chuckoo.
It spawns once a year, and does so at the beginning of the rainy season; it migrates to the riverdelta's, swamps and brooks surrounding the lake.
it really needs to swim and a fair bit of current as well.
friend of mine managed to get eggs just once; and they only spawned in tanks 5 feet or longer. with exactly the same tricks in a metertank, it didn't budge.
adding certain food like black mosquitolarvae, gammarus, mysis, fisheggs etc might stimulate too.

Sounds alot like spawning Silver Dollars (Mytennis spp.). Give them room to run for the courtship chases and they'll spawn but you don't have a chance in a smaller tank.it really needs to swim and a fair bit of current as well.
