Peckoltia vittata

Post by wayneminot »

I just read somewhere that these have never been bred in aquarium but I thought that was absurd. I've even seen these in petsmart before. Unless the species I've seen isn't actually peckoltia vittata but some other peckoltia species can someone clear this up for me?

You sure those aren't Panaque maccus instead? I've also seen wild-caught fish showing up in the large chain pet stores, so even if it was Peckoltia vittata, its presence there would not be surprising.

Peckoltia vittata is rarely seen in the trade, though the name "Peckoltia vittata is often used to describe other fish, usually Panaqolus maccus. To the best of my knowledge, P. vittatahas NOT been bred in the aquarium.
