Synodontis cf. nigrita (njassae)
smells like HYBRID to me, because a TRUE njassae looks as much like a nigrita as a S brichardi does.....

only two things are the same, really;
both are Syno's
both are spotted.....

I´ve bought in 1995, 9 of these S. cf. nigrita in Poland. I´ve breed they firstly 2001.

They are not hybrids. The yougsters were 100% identically.
I think hybrids would be differently.

That would be the species featured here, right?

They look like regular nigrita. I wonder why someone would call them njassae.

Yes, right!

The fish-dealers call them S. njassae, to make more money. ;)

S. cf. nigrita = 3 - 4 EUR
as S. njassae = - 14 EUR

Its most the same fish here. :(

exactly the same over here;

in ALL my wanderings as a catfishnut, I have seen the REAL S njassae about 5-6 times; 5 or 6!

but fish sold as njassae? hundreds of times!
nigrita, cf nigrita, robbianus, eupterus, ocellifer, hybrids, even pale multipuncs!

it's a fast way of making swift bucks over the backs of ingnorant Malawi-keepers that don't want to add Tanganyikans to their Malawi-tank
:evil:
