Filter Upgrade....some questions
Filter Upgrade....some questions
Well, yesterday i decided that now i have lovely discount at work (Aquatics shop wooo!) That I should treat myself to an external filter for my 57G catfish tank.
It's an Eheim 2217 filter, apparently suitable for up to 600L aquarium, so should be plenty good enough to filter my tank.
My only question is what is the best place to position the spray bar and the intake in relation to each other.
I currently have the spray bar on the left side of the tank below the water line facing upwards. So obviously the current is going from left to right.
I have potitioned the intake at the back right of the aquarium, but it doesnt seem to be getting in to the flow, thus removing the particles stirred up into the water by my maintanence.
Should i spend the extra money and split the intake and have 2? Or should i just move things around a bit?
Any advice greatfully recieved!
Ben

You might want to position the spray bar so that it is angled slightly down. That should help create a cross current. You might just have to play with the spray bar to get the right angle for your tank. I am always surprised how much mulm collects in lower current areas of my river tank. I vacuum these areas every time I do water changes.
