Stubby Syno Eupterus

Post by RobsFish »

I have two juvenile Synodontis Eupterus in my 55 Gal Mubuna Tank. Iâ??ve had them about 2 months now. They both have lost their fins. Theyâ??ve been reduced to small stubs. I have not seen any of the other fish attacking the eupterus. Could this be a water problem? There are also 4 Multipunctatus in the tank that are doing very well. Could they be the problem?

It's unlikely to be the water. What else you got in the tanks?

My money is on the Mbuna, red tops are nasty as are any Pseudotropheus. The calvus would be a far better tank mate. I have a 400 litre tanks with all malawi cichlids along with 5 eupterus. I only get away with it because of the 150 kilo of coral rock and high population density of the malawi. Shared agression theory. Mbuna is small numbers are deadly and extremely asggressive. Synos are pretty peaceful in comparison
Hope this helps
