Panaqolus/Panaque albomaculatus

Post by König Löwe »

I noticed that Panaque albomaculatus is placed in Panaqolus in the Cat-e-log, as far as i remeber, it was Panaque not long ago. I allso noticed that Panaqolus albomaculatus was updated 21.02.03. Anyway, my question is, has Panaque albomaculatus been moved to Panaqolus recently? And who "decided to move it" (sorry, i dont know the proper jargon)?

It was assigned to Panaqolus in Isbrücker et al. (2001), but Chockley & Armbruster (2002) do not consider members of the Panaque dentex group (=Panaqolus) distinct enough to warrant a separate genus.

Can you e-mail me a copy of Chockley and Armbuster?

Sure thing. First thing tomorrow.
For anyone else interested (since I'm going to make the pdf for Shane anyways):
Chockley, B. R. & J. W. Armbruster, 2002. Panaque changae, a new species of catfish (Siluriformes: Loricariidae) from eastern Peru. Ichthyol. Explor. Freshwaters 13: 81-90.
