Oh the horror!!!

Post by retro_gk »

So, I bought a used canister filter (Fluval 204) off Craigslist...came with ceramic rings, a box of peat etc. I took it apart, boiled the media, rinsed the rest of the filter in scalding hot water, let it dry and plugged it in Saturday as the secondary filter in my catfish/loach tank.

I wake up today to a tank full of ick!!!!! :x 4+ years of ick free tanks and I get it in the one tank I'd hesitate to medicate. :( AND as if I needed the stress, its finals week.

AAAARRRRGGGGHHHHH.

Sorry about the long post...I'm bummed.

Sorry to hear about your bad weekend, Rahul. Hope you get it under control without losing too many fish or too much time during finals week.

I bought a used Eheim filter from Ebay some years ago. It didn't work. I spent more money on new parts than I would have on buying a brand new filter, and it STILL doesn't work properly. The seller gave me a long sob story about how he suddenly shipped out to Afghanistan to do his patriotic duty, blah blah blah, so he couldn't give me my money back. That was the last time I'll ever buy a used filter online!
