Channallabes Apus

Strange that you like <i>Clarias</i>, and yet find <i>Channallabes</i> ugly
Kept one for a very short time, and found it to be very demanding of water conditions for a clariid, perhaps even more so than for <i>Gymnallabes</i>.
Like <i>Gymnallabes</i>, very prone to infections.

Channalabes apus, very interesting catfish i would get few of those if they were available here.

I have one Gymnallabes typys for two years now and it is the favorite fish of my kids and myself. They like company but "the same old song" no-ones imports them. To my experience it is very easy to keep.

I have kept <i>Gymnallabes</i> on two separate occasions and both time they were done in by some kind of strange parasitic infection.
They'd continue eating as before but gradually get thinner and thinner, and then large black spots start appearing on their bodies. They would eventually succumb after several months in the tank.
The <i>Channallabes</i> was even more delicate. It didn't last a week in my tank.

it surprises me that these fish can appear so delicate. Im going to check the cat e log because it hink the one i saw may have been mis identified. What kind of waters do they come from HH?

Swamps and relatively slow-flowing streams...you know, the standard <i>Clarias</i> habitat.
I am thinking that the fish may not travel well, which is surprising for a clariid.
