Hello
Hi, Im new to the forums, so wanted to welcome myself in. Im under the impression that these forums are mostly for outside the United States. I have some questions about fishing for cats in the mississippi river. But first wanted to see if I might be in the wrong place
Many people fish the Mississippi river?

This forum is for everyone who's interested in catfish, wherever they happen to live. There are plenty of members from the US. However, I have a feeling you're a little bit in the wrong place if your interest is FISHING for catfish, rather than KEEPING catfish. Almost every member here is interested in keeping fish in tanks and ponds, rather than catching them with a line and hook for some purpose (eating or just the sport of it). [Some do both, of course].
So, if your fishing in the Mississippi aren't for the purpose of catching fish for ponds or tanks, maybe you're in the wrong place. However, you're welcome to have a look at the Cat-eLog, where you'll find information on the fish that live in, amongst other places, the Mississippi river.
Here's an index of Ictaluridae, which is the family that contains most (if not all) of the native North American catfish species.
