Catfish on stamps

Post by Silurus »

Wondering if anyone else out there collects catfish on stamps. I have a fairly decent collection, but am not exactly sure I have everything that's out there. Wouldn't mind getting in touch with someone else with a collection to swap notes (sorry, don't have any duplicates for swapping).

I am reaching the point where the collection is almost complete (once a few more orders are in).

All of what I have to date are already in the Cat-eLog.

Anyone knows where I can get this?

This is priced fairly cheaply in many internet sources, but many of them require me to purchase in excess of my needs.

Bit hard to search ebay.de for me, especially since I don't know enough German philatelic terms to optimize the search. I briefly searched "Ukraine" in stamps (briefmarken), but it didn't turn up what I was looking for. Thanks anyway.

We have a stamp catalogue called "Michel" here and they have series numbers for stamps which is the standard here. Dunno if you have this in the states. Ukraine should be easily available here in a stampshop.

Also looking for this

I thought these two would've completed my collection, but as it turns out I am missing more than just these two (because I was using the Gibbons "Collect Fish on Stamps" as a guide, I am only aware of issues up to 1999...there have been quite a number more since then).

Quite impressive. It's just now that I can reply to this somewhat older subject, but after checking both my father's and late father-in-law's stamp collection I should say you have a lot.
My father, who has been collecting for many years, was very impressed as well. He could find five, which you already have.
The collection of my father-in-law had one, which is not in the Cat-eLog. It's a stamp from Thailand, with 2 Kryptopterus apogon on it.
I'll send you a scan via email (pls send the address via PM to me. For some reason the emailbutton in your profile doesn't work).

Check. I didn't look any further than K.
Btw: I came across this one in the synonyms list: according to FB Micronema apogon is invalid and should be replaced by Kryptopterus apogon (Bleeker, 1851).
And according to CoF it is valid.
So, shall I follow CoF?
