can i put 2 catfish together?

Post by mitmop »

Hiya all. I have a Pimelodus maculatus and was wondering if i could put him with a Synodontis eupterus (feather fin catfish.) the feather fin is in my smaller tank that i want to change into a community tank and was wondering if i could put him in my larger tank with the other catfish as he is quite a lovely catfish about 7-8 inches. Any advise would be apreciated.

thanks

I've no immediate experiance with these particular fish.

But I understand the Synodontis family are peaceful, whilst the Pimelodus, although relatively preaceful, are carnivorous, and would probaly gobble up any fish small enough to fit (as one does!).

You need to check your growth parameters.

I don't think it's a problem, but give them enough hiding places. If there's just one, you'll get trouble.
