I hope you keep them so they never reach another aquarist, when discovering that two different species has spawn it's better to destroy the batch before hatching. There are enough problem with the genus Ancistrus with the common ones and I am sure no one wants more similar species that will confuse all of us even more.

Hi!

I wouldnt call that a hybrid as he most likely means the piebald Ancistrus and the yellow/blackeye that is also a selectively bred species.

Nothing special but not very clever as purebreds sell much better imo.
cheers

I agree with Janne, this brood should be culled. They are hybrids, as L144 is a different specie than LDA08, the latter bein . Search for L144, and I think you'll find that it's that has a genetic "deformity".

I'd make sure that there's no two different pecies of Ancistrus in the same tank.

Ive now seen that the male isent the male lda08 its the L144 with no yellow fintipp femal L144 yellow fintipp.

Is it still a L144 if it has an yellow fintipp? yellow on back fin and on tailfin, but looks like an L144.

Think this was a good post anyway to see how it could have gone.

im moving my Lda08 male to another tank and hopefully il find some partners for him..

L144 is this species but I understand that you mean the "common Ancistrus" and this last one is a very variable species, when young they have white or yellow fintips that will disappear with size and age.
