Cory numbers

Post by Psy »

So, I'm not quite sure what I'm doing yet, but here it goes. I have 12 cories (11? 13? I have to count) in a 55 gallon, with some rubbernoses and my striped raphel trio.

Would they adjust to a 20 long (30x12x12 inches) If I wanted to use my 55 for something else? It would be pretty well stocked, waste wise, but will they have enough swimming room?

Alternatively, I could add to my school of Bronzes, how high do you think I could go in the 55? I think a big school would look great, but I dont want to over crowd them.

you did'nt state which species you wanted to move. but presuming that you don't have one of the bigger species(robustus or barbatus) they would be perfectly fine in a 30 inch tank. i have around 50+ corys albeit young ones in a 30 incher with no problems regarding water quality.

Bronze cories... ie aeneus. One of the bigger species, but not the largest, lucklily.

I'm actually considering over summering them in a kiddie pool, outside, with a really big school, like 30+. The only problem is moving them back in over the fall, so I wonder how many I can have in teh 55 ;)

My convict did fine until it jumped, so a bit caution with the use of a cover it seems it should work for the cories.

Well, at one point I had over 70 C.aeneus with others, in a 48x18x18. There never seemed to be a problem.
