My big tank has a load of variuous bits of broken pots and some bamboo pipes. There's a photo in the link in my sig.

The choice will also depend on the size of the pleco, breeding caves need to be sized accordingly. See this thread for how to figure out the size: http://www.planetcatfish.com/forum/view ... hp?t=14631

Some plecos are content with just about any type of cave [1], others are particular about what material it is and what shape/location it is.

1. My first bristlenose spawn was in a cave that the male dug out under a piece of slate in the tank.

Hi Ryan. (gidday Mats)

The first is 35 or 45mm poly-pipe, about 150mm in length. Gravel is siliconed in and out. I have others that are not siliconed inside, but the fish prefer the all-gravel version. I have other sizes in progress, two 65mm, and a 100mm.

My Ancistrus have bred in this, it's a nice cosey fit, although recently two Clown Loaches have taken up residence (side by side!).

This second is another I have pending, but it's more for the Cichlids. At least until the Bristlenose' have eaten it! It's about 18" long, and you could probaly reach half way through it, if you don't make a fist.
