Gidday Iporangensis, welcome to PC.

Have a look at your wrist, now follow down to the tips of your fingers. That's roughly how long your Sharks will grow. Of course we're assuming you have the right fish!...

Is this your "Siamese shark"?

If it is, it will grow into this....

This fish unfortunately isn't suitable for home aquaria of any size.

More info...

No the shark seems thinner and is jet black with a greany silver shine to it, and the fins have the black part next to the body not the tips of the fin, i have lloked at a few and there is one called Hypothalimus??? this looks very very simler to it (probibly identical)

This one?

Unfortunately the same goes for this fish. Not suitable for the home aquarium.

This is the fella I was thinking of. My understanding is that it's a relatively small fish. Not like those monsters seen above.

Kana,

If you search fishbase for Pangasius sutchi, you get . It appears to grow to over 4 feet, which is sufficiently large for it to not be suitable for anything that people who are not CxO's of LARGE companies can afford.

I can't win! Not only do they change the name, they change how large it can grow!

Cheers Mats.

These are very skittish nervous fish, often prone to swimming into the glass hard when aggitated (and breaking it!). They grow to over 4 feet long.

In my opinion some fish are not suitable for life in an aquarium (no matter how big).

This is one of them.

If you're planning to build a tank, I'd start planning one that is at least 16 x 8 x 8 foot, preferrably bigger. And start thinking about the foundations to tolerate a load of 7600 gallons of water. That's 28800 liters -> 29 tons/64000 pounds (about the maximum loaded weight of a full-size freight-lorry without trailer).

This of course doesn't solve the issues of skittishness and prevalence in breaking glass, but at least it should have somewhat suitable living space.

Since this sort of tank-building project will take some time to plan and accomplish, I think you should start planning it now, so that when your fish is a couple of feet long, you have the tank ready to move into...

You'll also have to consider the consequences of having a indoor swimming pool at around 25'C - condensation is a big problem, for example. Heating it will most likely be a case of heating the entire room to 25'C, as this will reduce the amount of condensation.

You'll also need another 4 foot or so on one side of the tank to get the filtration system in place.
