Does anyone have more infomation on these catfish??

I have been checking all over the net and can not find any information regarding these catfish. You guys have great pictures but almost no information.

Some one just asked me to take three and I put them in a 10 gallon but I need to know there requirements in order to decide where to place them in my fish tanks.

When I got them he had them with goldfish, weather loaches, pl*cos and syno cats in about a 45 gallon tank.

I have posted this question in Tropical Resources too, didn't want anyone to get upset...

sorry if I posted this in the wrong location.

Thanks, Lisa

They are fairly easy to care for (I had four that I just gave away after keeping them for about two years), as long as you keep the water quality up.
I had them in a general community-type setup that predominantly had catfishes in it. They're not fussy feeders and will guarantee an appearance during feeding time as they gorge themselves.

Andy (drgold) might have more specific answers, since he's the new owner ofthe fish now.

Well it looks like I am the new happy owner of your old fish.... I just got them from Andy...LOL small world... 8)

I just read they might get in the gills of fish and gorge themselves on the blood... That is why I was concerned about were to place them.

Right now they are with 7 Weather loaches...lol they look happy enough. But the loaches are going in with two goldfish and no heater soon so I thought I could find out from some catfish person where would be a good place to put them...

I have a 50 gallon SA Dwarf cichlid tank I could place them?? What do you think? Would they be okay with three pairs of Apistogramma cacatuoides??

Thanks!!

They'll keep pretty much to themselves and should do OK in just about most community tanks.

they did very well for me but were very shy. Could have been because of the goldfish, or maybe because I didn't have them very long. They go nuts when water quality changes (I added melafix and they all zipped all over the tank) but settle down quickly.

They ate goldfish pellets and spirulina flakes for me very readily (zipped out of their driftwood and back again). I never saw any aggression problems. However, all of their tankmates were considerably bigger. One found the floor during a water change (fell out of his driftwood when I wasn't looking) but seemed no worse for it. They're very tough buggers.

HH, sorry for moving your fish along, but I didn't think they would take well to the african cichlids that I'll be getting soon. I knew Lisa would give them a great home so hopefully you don't mind too much.

They have alread caught the eye of my husband so I am sure they are all set to be a favorite. He is not a hobbyist but enjoys watching the fish.

I watched this morning to make sure they came out to eat. It is very strange to have an all dojo tank...with the little cat fish in there... it looks like a lazy tank..lol

There is more than enough hiding spots in the 50 gallon with the wood and it being 70% planted.

I think they will do well there. Well If anyone has more information please update the log. I will check back often.

Sorry Andy if I got you in any trouble...And Thanks Silurus for sharing your catfish!
