Rio Orinoco information.

Wondering if anyone can direct me to some info on the orinoco, in view of setting up a biotope tank. I've searched around a fair bit and can't find the sort of info I require. Any help would be appreciated.

What area of the Orinoco are you talking about... it is only like the 6th largest river system in the world.

The tank is going to house a mixture of fish from the Orinoco drainage including Panaque maccus. So I suppose the tank would be : "Columbia/Venezuela Whitewater Biotope"?

So you are actually more after a llanos tank? The Andean tributaries (Arauca, Apure, Guarico, etc) are whitewaters with more hardness and and a higher pH. Lots of great fish choices from the llanos.

I would need info on the tank size, possible inhabitants, etc. No sense recommending L 200s for a 20 gallon tank.
There is also lots of information on these habitats in the Venezuela Diaries.

Been reading through the Venezuela diaries. The tank will most likely have a couple of large pieces of wood, some leaf litter and lots of plants, mostly floating or "bog" type plants. Fish will be Rams, rineloricaria and some approprite tetras. Possibly some Corydoras habrosus or similar.
