Show sizes page

Post by Jools »

The first version of this page is now online at http://www.planetcatfish.com/catelog/show_sizes.php

This page is intended to provide the definitive source for catfish judges in at least the UK. I have started this topic to discuss its layout and also promote its use. Some time ago I agreed with the CSG committee that I would manage this and the data would be sourced from Planet.

I want to get across two concepts here, content and style. The content is at present and as you can see not very good. There are undescribed species on the list and not all species have size data. There is also a column for max. size for males if this is smaller than the female size but there is no data in this and so you cannot see it for now. This will all change but first I want to finalise the style.

So, can I have some feedback on style:

Is the list in one whopping great page the best layout? I think so because it is very easy to search, but it could be broken down to one page per letter or the like.

Is alphabetic order by species the best? I think so as users can confuse other methods of breakdown such as show class or family.

Should I add more data categories? Show class for example?

Is the standard planet catfish format OK? Does it print OK? Would you rather have a simpler layout? Grid lines?

Appreciate all feedback, once the catelog V2 is live, my first job will be plugging in all the size data.

I've added a toggle to switch gridlines on and off.

Ok, now you can view the data either in alphabetic or class order. You can also filter out all data with no size information or only view those without info.
