Forum connectivity
Are there hardware/software problems lately? Forum connectivity seems a little hit and miss lately.

getting ON the forum, changing and -especially- posting is sheer HELL lately
it looks like FireFox and that highly irritating flashplayerdependable moving link to Frappr won't cooperate at all.
today I wanted to react on some post; the loading of the page took 20 minutes or so, after writing the posting the follow-up simply never arrived....not good.
can that frappr stuff be linked otherwise?
adds are a necessary evil I guess, but once they prevent the forum working properly the priorities are somewhat messed up me thinks.

fwiw, at first the frapper animation at the bottom of the page really killed my PC (mind you it is a celeron 500
). The page would freeze for several seconds and sometimes I couldn't use the browser navigation unless I scrolled the page up to put the frapper pic out of view. Now it's not so bad, maybe my pc has it all cached by now, but I have noticed that in the past week the PC site has been very slow to load initially. Not so bad the past two days though.

I've tested it on a very old windows 95 PC and it works fine for me on a dial up connection. So, what's the link with that and the connectivity issues? I think you guys are looking for a scapegoat...snowball wrote:fwiw, at first the frapper animation at the bottom of the page really killed my PC (mind you it is a celeron 500). Re: Forum connectivity
Yes, our web hosts had a very serious problem which took them days to fix. If it is of help in future, the status of their network is independently reported on here:Silurus wrote:Are there hardware/software problems lately? Forum connectivity seems a little hit and miss lately.

As you'll see, some pretty major issues.
By coincidence, I've also upgraded our server plan, it cost $15 more a month, but that has been funded by PVAS advertising (for a while) and it means we are now operating well within disk space, bandwidth and database limits. Previously we were in the high 80%s.

Of course, but then we wouldn't have many people joining in. Engendering a sense of community is important, how else could we achieve this so graphically?sidguppy wrote:can that frappr stuff be linked otherwise?
