Pelteobagrus argentivittatus - Correct name?

Post by MatsP »

According to Fishbase, this is Leiocassis argentivittatus.

Searching for P. argentivittatus in Catalog of Fishes gives not found... Searching for Leiocassis argentivittatus finds it...

So where does the Pelteobagrus come from?

I'm using this link to search COF (in case it makes any difference)...

Because it is clearly not a Leiocassis (which have elongate snouts and a brown body with yellow patches), but more closely related to Pelteobagrus/Pseudobagrus, some of which have a striped pattern like P. mica.

Ok, so we're just waiting for someone to revise this species, right?

[Why can't you guys just agree with each other on which fish is which genus - yes I know, that's like all programmers agreeing which text-editor is best for programming... ;-)]
