When this guy (or girl I dunno how to tell) was given to me, I was told that it was a rubberlip Pl*co. When I did some research on it, I found that Bulldog Pl*co and L146 was a synonym (according to That Fish Place)

Now that he grew a little in my tank, he doesn't look like a L146 or a Bulldog Pl*co as shown on the pic on TFP.

Here are some pics of him/her in a specimen container:

That little guy under him is an Ameca Splendens and she's in the main tank.

To me that looks like a young Liposarcus pardalis... That may be wrong, but what is certain is that it's definitely not a bulldog or rubberlip of any kind.

Well, if it's an L. pardalis it'll eventually grow to 12" or so.

I'm gonna look through the Cat-E-log. Right now one of the possiblities could be L060, L246. The pictures came out orange. He's not that light.

Its most probably L351

And I haev a common pleco and he looks nothing like this guy. this guy has somewhat of a spade head.

It looks like a Common pleco to me. Can you count the number of rays in the dorsal fin (or post a pic with the dorsal fin extended).

In my opinion it is none of these fish.

It looks to me like a good old common (Lipocarcus pardalis).

They do vary a lot in their shape, as they are reared by the thousand in Asia and Florida, with no culling of odd looking slightly deformed specimens.

He moves around too much and he likes to hide in the jungle val so I can't get a pic of him... I can't even catch him without tearing up my vals.

Try "bribing" him with a slice of zucchini or similar; I usually use food to get my fish to pose for the camera...

TFP places incorrect photos or no photo at all on their site often. A while back, I sent them an e-mail because they showed a photo of an L-046 with the description of an L-202. That situation was quickly corrected.

That said, I did purchase some lovely, robust Otos from them. I see they sell "Queen Arabesque" for $19.99. I would ask for a photo of the exact fish prior to purchase, though, since the "Pygmy Corydoras" they sent were Corydora Hastatus and died within 5 days of arrival. They asked me to mail them the corpses for a credit(I'm not in the habit of keeping fish corpses. I got the credit anyway). They should work with you if this isn't the fish you ordered, especially if you didn't expect a 12" fish.

Thanks for the info. I got this catfish for free from a local and I only used TFP as a refernce (now I know that I shouldn't!)
