Royal Farlowella sexing question

Post by mufito »

I have two Royal Farlowellas(maybe Sturisoma Panamense)..
Both of them have body length about 16cm except the filament portion of the tail..

What size does Royal Farlowella male start to exhibit odontodes along his cheeks??

And does Sturisoma Panamense exhibit much difference on size between male and female at 16cm length stage??

Answer please.. :)

If you search for the Royal Farlowella, you might be able to find info on it. There is a difference in spelling, so you might find some more info using that or the Latin name that you mentioned.

Sexing Sturisoma?

Dredging up an old thread. I just acquired a trio of some Sturisoma species (probably , but who knows) and haven't had much luck searching for information on sexing Sturisoma on PC besides the presence or lack thereof of odontoids on the lateral aspect of the head. I haven't had a chance to take pics of them yet. Does anyone have info on how to ID sex by observing the ventral vent area? Any other reliable means?
