I don't give cucumber, but courgette (zuchini), to my bristlenoses and Clown plecos. Also sweet potato.

In the bristlenose tank, I've got a slice going almost all the time, which means a new slice every day or so. I remove what's left after a day, as it just goes off after that.

But it does depend on what specie you have (some want more protein than others, and you don't want them to ONLY eat your vegetables. I also give algae wafers and some bloodworms (but the bloodworms usually get eaten by other inmates).
