L236?

Post by MatsP »

I just bought two of these, what I think is L236...

Can someone confirm or suggest what it may be?

They were labeled in the shop as "Clown Pleco", but they certainly ain't , nor was the price right for a "Clown Pleco" (20 pounds, which is OK for L236 from one of my local shops, I'd say). I'm pretty sure they are Hypancistrus, and they match the textual description on ...

The shop insisted that all they knew about them was that they were "Clown pleco", so I can't tell you where they came from or anything like that.

That's OK. I paid less for these two than the same shop wanted for L260, and they look really nice in my tank, very active, out and about all the time.

I didn't think they were P. Vittata since they didn't look quite as yellow as the pictures I've seen, they are almost completely white with black stripes, but I can certainly see the similarity.

Unfortunately, I think I've got two of the same sex, but never mind... I'll try to sex them properly and find a mate some time in the future. They will have to move to another tank before I can breed them anyways...
