pleco's

I have spawned albino and brown bristle nose pleco's, and was wondering if anyone could suggest some other kind of pleco that could be spawned? If possible under the same water conditions that the bristle nose have been spawned in. Thanks.

Almost all smaller plecos can be spawned, with moderate difficulty.

Whether or not in your water conditions is hard to say, because Ancistrus species are about the easiest to spawn, both when it comes to triggering them to spawn and when it comes to tolerance to different water qualities. I've heard of people spawning them in African cichlid tanks as well as in Discus tanks (which are pretty much at either end of pH and hardness scales).

A well documented genus would be the Hypancistrus species, and from what I understand, they aren't that particular about water parameters as long as the water is clean (that of course applies to just about ANY fish you want to spawn).

I think it may be EASIER to spawn Peckoltia species, but I'm not sure.

Both Hypancistrus spp. and Peckoltia spp. are pretty common in the trade, so you shouldn't have too much of a struggle finding some, and should be reasonably priced, around $30 or thereabouts for "mid-range" species (juveniles or adults of the more common species, or babies of more rare ones).

Note: I haven't spawned either of the genus that I mentioned above, but I am avidly reading reproduction reports from other people here on this site. Shane's world is a great source of reproduction articles.
