all kinds of petricola....56k beware!

Post by sidguppy »

New "petricola's" show up ALL the time, and the whole business gets more and more confusing every day.

So I thought it might be handy to post PIX of several "petricola's" in this post, especially those wich we cannot determine, and let the authorities -like Erwin, for example, Rusty and Dinyar- chime in, see what we get out of it?

Show us your "petricola's"!

That's the idea; bring as many petricola's together wich do not immedeately fit under 'dwarf' and let's hassle what it is?
tnx

come on guys, chime in, let's see what we all keep for "undeterminated" "petricola-things" in our tank.

Okey, at the moment I keep this fish from Zambia:

Image

I would say they are close to real S. petricola. But I also keep this one from Zambia too:

Image

After I have them now for a while, I would consider them as S. "Petricola Big", just like these ones, of which I only took pictures, but ain't keep them myself:

A juvenile of S. "Petricola Big"

At first glance I thought a special long S. petricola, but now I think they are S. "petricola Big" as well, because they don't look to much different to that:

This is a large (> 12 cm) specimen of S. "Petricola Big"

And finally compare this S. "Petricola Dwarf":

I've given up trying to keep track of the variation in "S. petricola". It almost seems that every batch I see is different.
