Longibarbis eating at last

Post by clare »

I posted on here months ago, about of Perruno/Longibarbis catfish not eating.
He is fully grown and went on hunger strike and hadn`t eaten for 9 months.

He is now in his new tank, 9ft x 3ft 6", x 2ft and has a shelf made of slate to lay under. For the first week he was much the same, then last night he came swimming to the side of the tank and gulped down loads of food just like he used to.

He`s swimming around more and looks great. His colours remained perfect throughout the episode and I guess we will never really know what it was all about.

I know it is natural in the wild to be cut off in pools for lenghts of time and have to rely on reserves but catfish being greedy makes me wonder why he did this when food was in abundance.

Anyway, thankyou all for your help and advice.
