I'm not sure I want a thread about all this in my little online refuge, but I guess it's the speak easy and I guess its good to talk. It's been a particuarly unsettling couple of days so far.

My wife Clare works in Stirling and her commute up the M9 yesterday was affected by the protestors, her place of work (the University) was under police guard yesterday and they were sent home early.

Kinda odd seeing so many Police and so many helicopters and stuff flying around; armed police at the airport on Sunday which, at least for Scotland, is again unsettling. I can't remember the last time I saw a gun being carried in Scotland.

It's weird watching the pictures from Edinburgh where they're carrying out a controlled explosion on a bus ( http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/scotland/4662043.stm ) - that's a few minutes walk from where I was brought up.

Our friends in London are all accounted for, a few worried calls from our folks as Clare was in London at the weekend and I've postponed a trip down there until next week but really we're all fine.

I guess we'll see what happens tomorrow but, please, in responding to this post, please don't get political - Planet Catfish is not the place for it.

No worries, I'm sure we all appreciate the concern.

Kinda odd seeing so many Police and so many helicopters and stuff flying around;
We had the same thing when we had the summit here, we also had wakeup calls as the jets zipped through the mountains at six in the morning, very annoying. :evil:

It does go back to normal eventually though.

I had an urge to post something yesterday, but I didn't. I hope everybody is okay over there. I hope everybody is okay everywhere! :shock: I'm a strongly political person, but I like posting on Planet Catfish because it isn't all about people being political. There are too many places on the internet like that. I know there are politics associated with saving endangered species. But, I'd say that's a story for a different web site, too. :wink:

We were buzzed by fighter jets yesterday. No summits here. Just railroad tracks. No further comment. Back to catfish, my favorite subject! :D
