Long time reader and short time member. 
I have 2 pictus catfishes (yes, I know they are better in shoals
)in a 55gal with a colony of Y. Lab cichlids.This tank is well established and all have been together for possibly 2 years or more...More recently to my inheritance
. Clarification on IF they were in a spawning/breeding/courting each other type way... what type of behavior would I be noticing? This is no aggression and not a dominance issue. I have noticed at least one (fast little suckers!
)has a protruding papilla or egg tube. They always are doing this "dance" of flying up and down the tank together with a few seconds of stopping for a brief mount and/or chasing each other in circles (same as when cichlids are spawning).I have "done my research" with the same result any way I turn.."no breeding behavior is known" or "they are migratory fish and impossible to breed in a tank environment".
So, what are they doing? catfish friends??
