Lasiancistrus?

Post by Shane »

Pseudolithoxus anthrax or Lasiancistrus anthrax? I know that Pseudolithoxus was one of the infamous DATZ genera. I found an e-mail from Jon Armbruster that someone posted on a German forum where he said he accepted Pseudolithoxus as he had planned on creating a genus for the L. anthrax group anyway. What did the Checklist of South American Fishes use? I still do not have a copy.

Hi Shane!

I asked Jon that question short after the publishing on that Datz issue. He recognized Pseudolithoxus as valid, he highly felt robbed on that one...
In the description of L. anthrax and other, Jon stated that because they could not agree on a genus for these, they settle on Lasiancistrus but said afterwards that a new genus should be described for these...

Cheers

I spoke (in person) with Jon about that very issue and Yann has is dead right. Lasinacistrus has recently been further restricted I think?
