Do these have any special requirements? I got one for £10, every bit as bold in pattern as Hypancistrus zebra (which costs six times that). A nice find.

No, but I've found out it's not L270; rather Zonancistrus pulcher, L168. A dead ringer for the one in Aqualog. Also, in iCOSA check out the thumbnail in the lower left corner.

I haven't seen the colour change. It's vivid black and white. What's sold here as Butterfly plecos are much more drab.

The butterfly plecos I've been around were very vividly marked when small, and had a tendency to fade or blend more as they grew. Hopefully yours is already larger and won't show that trend. :)

It's not fully grown, so I'll have to wait and see. I chose the best-marked one in a tank full of them.
