common plec changing colour???

Post by mitmop »

Does anyone know if a common plec changes colour. Our plec is about 8- 9 years old and was a lovely chocolate colour but he is now changing and getting very light patches all over him. we recently had a massive disease (velvet)that that wiped out 6 fish and left 5 and the plec went though the long prosess of medication. I was wondering if this had something to do with it...or if its a sign he is ill..or getting old..just dont know. He eats plenty of cucumber and pelets and meaty bits etc.

anyone help?

Not sure what this post does here - it should be in Loricariidae section - but I would think that it's stress colouration. Perhaps the water conditions aren't quite as good, the fish doesn't feel comfortable because you lost several of the dithers - small fish that swim about making the bigger ones feel confident to be out and about because the small ones aren't swimming away.
