Leopard Frog Pleco

Post by Caribou »

Can anyone help me out with the ID/L# of a Leopard Frog Pleco? Is it a Peckolita pulcher? I'm going by Aquabid photos only. Thanks!

So, Leopard pleco is the "common name" for . The mention of Peckoltia pulcher made me curios, and according to Fishbase, it's now Dekeyseria pulcher - which isn't in the Cat-eLog. I'm not sure if that's becasue the Cat-eLog is incomplete, or because fishbase follows a different line of scientific research - there are several different scientists who have different ideas when it comes to where and how to split the Loricariidae family into genera... Unfortunately for something like the Cat-eLog or Fishbase, it's impossible to describe all the different splits/merges in a reasonably straightforward manner, so the administrator of such a database will have to pick one of the ideas and follow that...
