Entomocorus melaphareus
I believe that the Cat-eLog species Entomocorus sp.1 should be Entomocorus melaphareus. As we already have two in the CateLog and there are only three known species at the time, this is very likely to be correct. This species has darkly pigmented fins, whereas the other two have more transparent fins.

Double check with Shane, but I'm pretty sure that fish was collected in Northern Venezuela, so it appears we have an undescribed species after all?

Yes, I guess you're right. That's quite a distance. Moreover, I read the description of E. melaphareus again and found that especially the pectoral and pelvic fins are pigmented. There's no mention of the caudal, which is black in Entomocorus sp.1.Jools wrote:I'm pretty sure that fish was collected in Northern Venezuela, so it appears we have an undescribed species after all?
So I'm afraid I was a little too enthousiastic and jumped to the wrong conclusion...
