Synodontis Ocellifer

Post by kohi30 »

Are Synodontis Ocellifer prone to contract "eye cloud". I recently purchased 3 young F0 individuals that showed no symptoms in the quarantine tank but upon placing them in the community tank after a month one of them contracted an "eye cloud" on its left eye. I also saw two individuals at a local pet store that displayed the same "eye cloud." I am treating with melafix, and pimafix

hey,

from what i know "eye could" disease can be caused by bad water condition (if you are of course sure that it's not mechanical damage ;)). Raising number of water changes and keeping your no3/no2 on low levels would help. However it's strange that only one eye is clouded (it could be mechanical damage).

Have you noticed any other symptoms of sickness?

I saw clouded eyes also on discus when temp. went too low for them - again bring optimal temperature and eyes became clear in about a week ;).

Regards.

what does eye cloud look like? I'm having issues finding it online at this time (it could be because it's late haha) and would it only affect one synodontis, or everyone?
