Hi there, I'm new to here and was just wondering if anyone could tell me how long Salmontail catfish live for and how long it takes for them to reach full size?

15 years++ and they keep growing the whole time although slower after they reach 3 or 4 years old by which time they are about 60cm long. If you have one you had better have a HUGE tank.

Thanks for that. I have a 6 foot tank at the mom and they r in with my turtles. In a couple of years I am going to build a pond for my turtles and the salmontails will go in the pond too. How old do they have to be before they can breed?

They will never breed on a pond or a tank these fish migrate to the seawater part of estruaries to breed.

to imitate that you'd need a shoal of catfish each more than 1 foot long; a poolsized tank with a fair bit of current and slowly salting the water in the right season; taking in the time of year, rainy seasons, the moonphases and all that.

would be a true stunt if you manage to pull that off.
