I've got a 58g tank with 4 Convicts, 6 Tiger Barbs, 1 Pleco and a Pictus. I got a few questions about this set-up and would appreciate some advice/wisdom.
2 of the Convicts have started breeding of course and I was wondering if the Pictus will eat the fry? I hope so, would be an easy way to take care of that little problem.
Also, he eats like an absolute pig. I feed my fish mostly cichlid sticks and the Pictus goes into a frenzy when it's feeding time; aggressively eating everything it can until it's belly looks like a squirrels cheeks stuffed with nuts lol. It even bullys food from the dominate male Convict of the tank.
Maybe I'm off-base here but with my Pictus eating anything that drops into the tank is there any need to have a Pleco?
And is there a better way to feed my fish so that the Pictus isn't eating 75% of the food or should I not worry about it?
Lastly, I have a single cat now but have read they do better in groups of 5+, I love this fish but it seems to be growing pretty good and I'd be worried about over-crowding the tank. What should the minimum tank size for 4 Convicts, 5 Pictus and 6 Tiger Barbs be?
