L81 compatibility with amano shrimp

Post by Crazie.Eddie »

I currently have a 55 gallon tank with a L81 Gold Nugget Pl*co, 5 clown loaches (largest is about 4", smallest is about 1.5"), angelfish, and harlequin rasboras. I am moving the fish into a 125 gallon tank. I was planning to get some amano shrimp in the future, so I was wondering if the ple*co is compatible with amano shrimp. I don't want the shrimp to become tasty meals for my pl*co. Although, it is rather shy.

You'll be fine Crazie.Eddie.

The plec will only eat the shrimp if it dies.

I would be more worried about the clown loaches or the angles eating the amano shrimp. I would put 2 amano shrimp in there and see how they do... if no one bothers them add some more. Or you could try a few ghost shrimp first.

I think they'll be OK as well. If not, try a Caribbean Armoured Shrimp. The name makes it sound like a right beast but its so not. Its a filter feeder so it can't harm your fish, and is armoured so nothing can eat it. Maybe stingrays but thats about it. I kept mine with a tankful of Malawis/Tanganiykans and it was fine and none of them bothered with it.

I already posted similar topics about the amano shrimp in a loach and angelfish forum, at the same time I posted this.

Thanks for the replies.
