Ethical question on posting other people's video

Post by fishing4exotics »

Hi, I was alarmed to see my friend's video posted on this site. The feeding video was posted by Jonathan Purdie and here is the video posted on this site:
http://www.planetcatfish.com/catelog/au ... 961_11.PHP
The Asterophysus batrarchus (Gulper catfish) feeding video was first posted on another site on March 4, 2006, then posted in PlanetCatfish by Jonathan Purdie on April 10, 2006. This is the original post of the person who filmed the Gulper feeding:http://forums.waterwolves.com/index.php ... =99264&hl=

Would the staff kindly delete the video posted here by Jonathan Purdie and ask permission from the person who actually filmed the video?

Hi,

There isn't an ethical question here, we will not post something unless we have permission to do so.

I checked and I do not still have the pm or email from Jonathon. IIRC he claimed to have permission of the person who took the video but did not supply their name or they did not want named I cannot remember which. Either way, I though I had permission to use the video.

I cannot access the other page with the link above. Can you provide me with the contact details (via pm or email, whatever is easier) of the person who you say took the original video and I will try to sort this out.

Apologies if this sounds awkward, but I have had malicious requests to falsely report copyright infringement (especially from webmasters of other sites) in the past so I want to deal with the source as I appear to have one third party saying I have permission and one third party saying I do not.

Thanks,

Jools

I have contacted the person that filmed the video in question. As soon as I have his permission to give out his contact info I will PM you. I respect your position and I assure you that my intent is neither malicious, nor false. The owner of the Gulper cat and the person that took the video are both good friends of mine. This is the 1st time a Gulper cat was actually filmed feeding in action! Under these circumstances one would understand my motives without implying that I had an alternative motive to my post.
