Panaque L330 price and availability

Post by König Löwe »

I'm considering getting a Panaque of some sort, the Watermelon Panaque is on the top of the list. What I'd like to know is if the L330 (is it also called L27a?) is generally "easy" to get hold of, and what prices they usually fetch in stores. I know this question is a bit general, seeing as I live in Norway, and most of you don't, and the availability will therefore vary a lot. In any case, I'm trying to find out if I should spend some time waiting for one to pop up, or rather go for whichever Panaque pops up first (the local store currently has a small L27 Xingu at a quite reasonable price).

I'm going to have a look at the fish list of the wholesaler which the local store uses next week. Supposedly, in the three years since I last had a look at one of these lists, the ammount of L-numbers on these lists have risen considerably.

If any of the scandinavians on this forum has any information on the availability of this fish, that would be especially appreciated.

EDIT: If anyone has the same info with regards to the Araguaia-Panaques I see listed here and there, that would be great too. They look great.

L330 is from Colombia and L27 is from Brazil (Rio Xingu). As for availability i dont think there is a shortage of them, some aquatic shop's might tend to get the L27 in insted because it is a little cheaper, but a wholesaler should be able to get you one. As for price Pier Aquatics were selling 8" L330's for about £55 (i think ) last year.

Wholesale price in Colombia for an 8 inch specimen would be about US $7.00.
