"Plecos" in an acrylic aquarium

Post by Scootdj79 »

I am going to be starting up another tank that is a 150 gallon acrylic aquarium and i am wanting to put a pair of Bushynose Pleco's (Ancistrus sp.) and I have read where "Plecos" have scratched into acrylic tanks when they are rasping at it and am wondering if anyone has had this problem at all and do you think the ones I want to get would do that or should I be safe with them? Thank you much for your time.

My 300 gal tank is acrylic and I have a royal panaque in there. I asked chris from neptunes (acrylic tank manufacturer) this question when I was ordring it and he assured me it would be fine. It has been in there for nearly three years now and the only scratches on the tank were caused by my dog when it was a puppy (the tank is on the floor) and I polished them out easily.
My opinion is if the panaque, that eats hardwood can't scratch it then the bristlenoses will be fine.
One more bucket of water and the farce is complete.
