Good clean up crew?

Post by Reptilian »

This is my plan. I have a bunch of s.a. cichs and everyone knows how messy they are. So I need good scavengers. My plan is a pictus cat, 1 or 2 bristlenose plecos(more for algae than scavenging) aand a clown loach. I already have a red tailed tiger botia but he won't get his lazy a$$ self up to get food. he wait for the food to float to him. So do you think my plan is good? Suggestions are also helpful. Thanks!

I wouldn't call Pictus cat's particularly good "cleanup crew". They eat frenetically when the food arrives in the tank, but once they are done with that, they tend to just sit there and wait for the next feeding session...

Not sure I have a good suggestion...

I don't know exactly which CA's you plan on holding, but you could try Apple snail (Pomacea bridgesii, not Pomacea canaliculata!) and common ancistrus. Both are real good cleaners, and most fish leave them alone.
