A. torosus

Post by Tom »

Just saw info on this website about A. torosus (jello band catfish). I was always interested in this fish but thought it got too big. It says it only gets 13.6", is that correct. If so, anyone have experience with this animal?

Thanks,
Tom

I have no experience with this fish, but I can say that Fishbase and CLOFFSCA both list it at 346mm SL, which is 13.6" in "old money". Further evidence that this number is reasonable is the fact that other species of the same genus are also of similar size, A. inpai = 420mm (16.7") and A. tocantinensis lists as 317mm (12.5"). [Inches are approximate - the metric measures are as printed in CLOFFSCA].
