Microsynodontis christyi in Checklist of Catfishes

Hi to all reading this.

In the Checklist of Catfishes, Ferraris considers Microsynodontis christyi (which is in the Cat-eLog) as a synonym of M. batesii, (which is also in the Cat-eLog). Ferraris writes (on page 309) that "Ng (2004h: 2) stated that Microsynodontis christyi should be treated as valid, but provided no further comments." Ferraris is in error with this statement. Ng does provide additional comments and differentiating characteristics for the species on pages 44 and 45 of the referenced work.

With the above in place, it would probably be best to not accept the synonymy that is provided by Ferraris and leave both species in the Cat-eLog.
