Cory eggs won't hatch

Post by Cory_lover »

Hey all...for the cory breeders: got something to ask ya..

been trying to breed C. trilineatus for some time now..so finally got them to spawn!!! but anwayyz...the eggs have been in the hatching tank now for quite a few days. I put an airstone in the hatching tank with a temp of 23-24C, some eggs are on the bottom, while others are still attached to plants. Thing is, even tho i've added meth blue to prevent fungus..the eggs have all fungused and i dun think they're gonna hatch now...

this happened quite a few times in the past...so question is, are they gonna hatch? Or are they even fertilised?

P:S: I've got 1male and 1 female in the breeding tank.

I would think that the eggs are infertile, It could be that you have either an imature male or even two females. I would recoment the you introduce at least one if not two more males.

C. trilineatus eggs take four days to hatch, by the end of the second day the eggs should have started to darken and by the time they are ready to hatch they are very dark.

they were white at first, but after 2 days, they started to turn a yellowy-beige colour...are they fertile if they're this colour?

In a work, yes. If the eggs are turning an amber colour it is almost certain they are fertile and the fact that you are loosing them is down to other factors. My instinct tells me that there may be a nitrate problem.

I think we need to have a clearer picture when we say white.

Normally for me if the eggs turn White (Opaque White or inner nucleus has a solid white),
no frys.

If the Egg is translucent and turn browish/amber but still able to see faintly internally, prepare for frys.
